05 Nov 09 Ed Mitchell takes "Failure to Enforce" package to the California Attorney General's offices in Oakland and to the Office of the State Fire Marshall in Sacramento.
Ed met with the Assistant AG for Environmental Law and discussed the failure of the County of Monterey to enforce mandatory state fire and safety laws. Ed provided a package of public records substantiating the basis of his claim. Including evidence that 100,000 gallons of fire suppression water capacity was not built in a subdivision within Pesante Canyon. And evidence that the County for years has know about the missing water tanks.

Neighborhood Coffee with Ed Mitchell
The first of several scheduled “Neighborhood Coffees with Ed” was held recently on a Thursday night in the lovely Oak Hills home of Martha and Don Rau. A dozen neighbors gathered, enjoyed splendid home-baked yummies, and reviewed issues of particular urgency.
Ed introduced himself to those who were not familiar with his background, then reviewed his campaign platform, “Choice, Change and Common Sense.”
Much discussion ensued concerning impacts which directly affect their neighborhood such as the proposed Hwy 156 widening, and the worsening water overdraft which has not been addressed by the incumbent Supervisor during his 12-year term in office. Other subjects reviewed were: lack of fire safety especially during drought years, reduced public services resulting from the current government economic crisis, unenforced code violations and how those threaten one’s property values, the yet to be finalized county General Plan Update, as well as the impacts to taxpayers resulting from the approval of a proposed Winery Corridor.
Other supporters interested to schedule a coffee are encouraged to phone Ed or Jan at 831-663-3021. PLEASE OPEN YOUR HOME TO REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT--- HELP ED MEET AND DISCUSS ISSUES in ALL neighborhoods. Plenty of dates are currently open, but the closer we move toward June voting, the less dates will be available….Choose your date today! Thank you!
Mitchell for Supervisor Campaign Kickoff Fundraiser
held on Sunday, October 4th
The butcher, the baker, and even the candlestick maker, (both those employed and those retired), all joined in the Mitchell for Supervisor Campaign Kickoff Fundraiser held on Sunday, October 4th at the Prunedale Grange.

The program opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag, followed by the groups’ energetic campaign cheer:
“Let’s Win District 2, Let’s Win…Let’s Win District 2, Let’s Win!”
The well attended potluck social featured favorite dishes brought by the best of country cooks, complete with aromas guaranteed to tantalize hungry guests. A prize was ultimately awarded for the best recipe, which went to Pat Bissett of Castroville.
A red-white-n-blue theme decorated the room, with several handmade posters reminding attendees of the impotance of numerous outstanding and troublesome District 2 issues, such as: “Got water; think twice!”; “Wanted: Fair and Open Government”.
Lee and Leora Worthington were volunteer photographers for the occasion.
Accompanying dinner, the group enjoyed pleasant guitar music featured by Dino Capito, who also donated his sound equipment to insure the audience heard every word of the important message brought by Ed Mitchell, candidate for District 2 Supervisor.

Mitchell stressed his campaign promise: “CHOICE, CHANGE and COMMON SENSE”, a future which the crowd applauded. Following a campaign activity update, Mitchell thanked volunteers and supporters for their encouragement.
